FOR BACK TO SCHOOL
Getting the right fit for the growing foot is important.
A child’s foot is not yet fully developed like an adults. Young feet are quite soft and largely comprise of cartilage. This means that they can easily be reformed (or potentially deformed) if the shoe doesn’t fit correctly.
It is important to remember when trying to find the perfect school shoe this back to school, just because the shoe goes onto the foot without protesting, doesn’t means it FITS – or is providing the right fit!
The first 11 years of a child’s life, the average foot will grow up to 17 Full Sizes (or 34 Half Sizes)
By age 12, a childs foot is about 90% of it's adults length*
The bones in feet change with age.
It is important to get your kids feet measured regularly as they get older to ensure their shoes are comfortable and the correct fit.
Your kids feet will spend most of their growth period in school shoes.
Therefore, it is important to seek advice on the correct fitting of school shoes.
Kids feet grow on average half a shoe size EVERY School term.
Kids shoes should be flexible enough within the mid and outsole to bend with their feet,
but they should also be sturdy and supportive enough to protect their feet.
Your kids socks are an important part of the fitting process, make sure the sock is properly fitted.
Socks that are too tight can restrict the growth of their feet.
