IMPORTANCE OF FIT

At The Athlete’s Foot we’re all about FIT, but WHY does FIT matter in footwear?
Your feet are unique, therefore FIT in footwear is different for everyone.
You might not have the same feet as the person next to you,
or even the same size from your left to right.

Just like your feet, shoes come in multiple shapes, sizes & widths, all offering differing features and varying levels of support.
There are running shoes designed for the road or the trail, there are shoes to propel you forward or move in different directions, to support your arch or simply keep you comfortable.
There are work shoes made with slip resistant materials, walking shoes with extra protection, thongs for recovery,
Netball specific shoes & Football boots for different positions, the list goes on
this is why it's important to get fitted and find the shoe that is perfect for you and your foot type.
A shoe too perfect that you'll never want to take them off.

MULTI-WIDTHS

THE IMPORTANCE OF WIDTH
Shoe widths play an integral role in the comfort and health of your feet, as well as the longevity of your shoes.
It’s important to get fitted regularly as your foot shape changes.
Common signs for having the incorrect width is the restrictive feeling across the forefoot or toes (sometimes causing a burning sensation),
or irritation from the upper materials (causing the upper to rip) or pinching across the top of your foot.

Find your shoe by clicking your foot width below.

SHOE TYPES

Footwear not only comes in multiple widths, but also varied levels of support.
For example a Saucony Ride focuses towards cushioning features for a Neutral foot type, while the Saucony Guide focuses towards Stability features for a foot needing additional arch support.
Below is a small guide on our 3 main types of shoes.

Motion Control shoes

MOTION CONTROL shoes are designed for those that need a high level of support that can control the foot and help realign the lower limb during movement. This type of shoe can cater for those that may have injuries and/or conditions to the ankles, knees or feet. Popular Control shoes are
Saucony Echelon & Brooks Beast.

Neutral shoes

While a support shoe focuses towards support, a NEUTRAL shoe (sometimes referred to as a Cushioning shoe) focuses more towards cushioning aspects of a shoe, maintaining the foots natural pronation and providing additional shock absorption where it counts. Popular Neutral shoes are
Nike Air Pegasus & New Balance 880

Support shoes

SUPPORT shoes (sometimes referred to as a Stability shoe) are focused on adding stability features into the shoe (most commonly medial arch support), this shoe type is generally catered for an over pronating foot (roll in too far).
Popular Supportive shoes are
ASICS GEL-Kayano & Brooks Adrenaline GTS
